5 Ways to Use Vinegar to Train Your Dog

Vinegar seems to be one of the crazy things in life that has a million and one uses to it.  The last couple of years I’ve been using it much more than just an ingredient in a recipe.  I wanted to share with you 5ways to use vinegar around your home in relation to your dog.
  1. For puppies or dogs with a chewing issue vinegar can be used as an anti-chewing deterrent. Mix equal parts of white vinegar and lemon juice in a spray bottle and spray on areas your puppy or is chewing. Plus this also makes a great cleaner, so if you spray too much, just wipe with a cloth and the object is also clean!
  2. Are you having a problem with stray/barn/feral cats around your home?  Pour white vinegar in the areas the cat is spraying. This is especially useful when you have a dog that chases the outdoor cat.  This lasts for 2-4 weeks depending on the weather and how much rain you’re getting.
  3. White vinegar also works very well at removing the odor of urine.  If you puppy or dog has an accident treat immediately with white vinegar to clean the area and remove the scent of urine.  For more solid accidents, pour white vinegar on the affected area.  Let it sit for one minute or less and rub with a dry cloth.  If your puppy or dog has an accident on bedding, you can add ½ cup to the washing machine to remove the smell of it from the fabric.
  4. White vinegar can be used to remove fleas.  This is a GREAT chemical free way to address this common issue.  Fleas are attracted to the smell of vinegar and if you leave an open bowl of white vinegar in the area you’re finding fleas, they will jump into the bowl and drown in the vinegar.  Fleas also don’t like salt, so if you sprinkle salt in your carpet they will jump out of the carpet; hopefully into the bowl of vinegar.  Keep in mind that fleas like the smell of vinegar, so don’t leave the bowl of vinegar next to your dogs’ crate, bed, or other areas your dog is resting.  You don’t want to attract the fleas to your dog.  If you have a flea problem in these areas, keep your dog away while the vinegar is out.
  5. To prevent fleas from biting your dog, add a drop of apple cider vinegar to your dogs’ bowl of water and it changes the acidity of their skin and fleas won’t bite your dog.  If you have a toy breed or giant breed size dog, ask your vet about the amount to use for their size.
I had a lot of fun looking these up, and I was happy finding out some other great uses for vinegar around the home.  Happy Training!!

Hey. I read that if you spray the areas which are receiving unwanted chewing for 2 weeks then the puppy will stop trying. My question is this: How often should we respray. Thanks

Most all anti-chewing sprays need to be re-applied every 20-24 hours.

Apple cider vinegar is a great help to your dogs. It can repel fleas and avoid getting ticks. You can say goodbye forever to those pests that have been bugging your precious dogs. Apple cider vinegar is also made to clean their ears easier, especially the back part. Just use a clean cloth or cotton swab and a little drop of apple cider vinegar will leave your dogs' ears clean. And while you are at it, try to make your way to their paws too.

Hi, I have two puppies 3 months old. we put them in their special home of wooden fence, of course big enough to enjoy, until they finish their full vaccinations and we free them at home. but they chew the wooden fence and eat it, it looks like the wood is eatable and delicious. It came to my mind to apply apple cider vinegar to the fence, they didn't like it and sat in a corner. what is your experience? Would it be helpful or they may get sick? Thanks Paris

Vinegar will not make your dogs feel sick. It has a very bitter taste, so dogs will avoid putting in their mouth. One of the great things about using something that's edible as a chewing deterrent is if it doesn't work, no worries. You just move onto the next things. Sounds like you've found something that works!

If there is a threat of disease it is good to prevent your puppies from contacting it but I have found that people do not socialize their puppies for fear of disease. Then you have a dog that has been growing up without the proper socialization and you have a much bigger problem. If you walk your dog in clean areas he can learn about the world in this important learning period. I like to think of that puppys' brain like a big sponge and if it's mother had been properly vaccinated and he was fed by his mother he is NOT walking around without an immune system. The benefits he will receive by being exposed to the world will make him and his owner much happier than trying to socialize a larger, stronger fearful dog. Be logical and just do not expose him to a place where a lot of animals go to the bathroom. Let him absorb the world and learn. My passion is large dogs and I have had many German Shepherds who are so well socialized that nothing bothers them and they are big happy well adjusted dogs. I wait to see how they exhibit their protective instinct and then I train according to their initial reactions. It is so much easier especially working with guarding breeds. :)

Vinegar is very useful liquid material to remove stains and to get the meat more softly for the digestion. Now you gave the new idea to train the dog well with the vinegar and dogs also like to take it.

I wish I could think of a way to help, and I hope you can find something, pharmaceutical or otherwise, that works better for you and makes these symptoms dial back or go away. It's always an aggregator which implies they don't ultimately provide whatever but, somewhat, they exhibit the cost of tickets from distinct third-party sellers charges included all in a single site.linknext year year's profits fell sharply to 6 % of nike air jordan shoes .The Shoes industry landmark brand, Sheep skin and wire side price has a not at all influence on industry .But the air jordan shoes is facing a larger challenge.the fact that they are not generally as steady as most NFL players seem to be.linkThank again for this great resource of information. Thanks, Pete (always appreciate a golf clap)...link
